When this client first came to see me, he had been in pain for a long time. He told me:
“I’ve suffered from back pain and knee pain most of my life. I have visited many therapists, and tried all sorts of procedures and strengthening exercises with little to no help.”
His pain affected everything—how he moved, how he felt, and even his confidence. He felt stuck and couldn’t enjoy the activities he loved.
When I looked at his posture, I could see that changes were needed. His hips were leaning forward, his back was hunched, and his shoulders and head were pushed forward.
We looked at his photos together and decided to focus on two things: 1) improving his upper body alignment, and 2) balancing his hips, even though he wasn’t feeling pain there.
It might seem strange to work on the hips for back pain, but everything in the body is connected. I always aim to address the root cause of the issue, not just the symptoms. Often, one part of the body hurts because another part isn’t working properly.
To help him become pain-free, I created a personalised plan with specific exercises tailored just for him. Generic exercises wouldn’t have been sufficient. These exercises were simple enough to do at home without any equipment and could easily fit into his daily routine.
We met about ten times in total. Initially, we met weekly, but we gradually spaced out our sessions. During these follow-ups, I ensured he was doing the exercises correctly and introduced more advanced exercises as he progressed.
Over time, his posture improved, and his pain started to fade. Within a few months, he was completely pain-free!

He got back to running and cycling without pain and felt much more confident in how he looked. He was thrilled to see his progress and said, “The result has been mind-blowing!” He now feels more secure knowing he’s less likely to get injuries as he gets older.
I’m really proud of his journey. It’s amazing to see someone work hard and achieve such great results.
